Darrel Goldammer

Darrel David Goldammer, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Sioux Falls, SD on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home (Downtown Location) 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD. 

A funeral service will be held the following morning at 11:00 am, Friday July 24, 2026 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 909 W. 33rd St., Sioux Falls, SD. 

Darrel David Goldammerwas born September 5, 1938 to Louie and Martha (Olawsky) Goldammer in Dimock, SD.  Darrel attended school through 8th grade.  He was united in marriage to Joyce (Boehmer) on September 6, 1959 at First Lutheran Church, Mitchell, SD.  

Darrel worked for Hormel Foods, Snow Refrigeration, Farmers Union COOP, and a variety of part-time positions in Mitchell.  In 1978, they purchased and ran Mr. D’s Cafe and Lounge in Corsica, SD.  In the early 1990s, they moved to Sioux Falls where he worked at Lloyd Properties until his retirement at the age of 75.  He will be remembered for his hard work and willingness to help others.

He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Sioux Emperians Barbershop Chorus.  Earlier in his life he was of service as an EMT on the Corsica Ambulance and Scoutmaster in Mitchell.

He enjoyed spending quality time in his workshop, gardening, joy riding his Spyder, boating (skiing into his 70s), playing cards (quite the card shark), hunting and fishing.  He will be remembered as the slowest eater ever, making the family even more eager for dessert to be served.

Darrel went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 20, 2026 under hospice care at the age of 87.  

Grateful for having shared his life is his spouse, Joyce; three sons and four daughters-in-law Todd (Sherilyn), Sioux Falls, SD; Scott (Susan), Highlands Ranch, CO; Barb, Sioux Falls, SD; Troy (Tracy), Niceville, FL. Nine grandchildren: Michael, Jeremy, Maelisa, Julia, David, Katie, Megan, Kateri, and Zachary.  Darrel was known as Opa to his sixteen great-grandchildren: Madison, Gracison, Emmerson, Olivia, Micah, Jonathan, Caleb, Sophie, Maelia, Tucker, Drew, Lexi, Hannah, Andrew, Finnley, and Cayden.  His many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Kevin and Kem, 10 siblings: Edna Sprecher, Arnold Goldammer, Arthur Goldammer, Ervin Goldammer, Gladys Siebenahler, Wilbert Goldammer, Marlene Gerlach, Wayne Goldammer, Ann Wilson, and Richard Goldammer.
